At CAPE People Development, we design leadership development and strategic facilitation experiences that reflect the realities of your team and the impact you’re trying to make. No templates. No jargon. Just carefully crafted support for purpose-led organisations ready to grow, realign, or re-energise.
One World Together is a dynamic, values-led movement focused on global justice, collective action, and community learning. Founded by Nicola Banks and Laura Dempsey, and run by a small core team, they are building partnerships and platforms to shape a more just and equitable future.
Like many social enterprises, they’ve grown rapidly, full of ambition, ideas and momentum. But growth brings complexity. And when the team reached a critical transition point, they recognised the need to pause, reflect, and clarify their strategic priorities.
Supporting clarity and connection through facilitation
One World Together approached CAPE People Development to design and facilitate a full-day strategic planning workshop. The goal? To move from vision to action, with renewed energy and a clear roadmap.
The session was tailored to help the team:
- Reconnect to their shared purpose and future goals
- Define what success would look like in 12 months
- Map out current projects and initiatives against that future state
- Identify priorities and clarify what to say “yes” and “no” to
- Build a 12-month timeline of actions and responsibilities
Because we specialise in working with founder-led and purpose-driven teams, we created a structure that combined creativity, strategic thinking, and team connection, all delivered through live facilitation grounded in care and clarity.

What we did
We facilitated a strategic priorities workshop in Manchester, structured to move the team through reflection, visioning, alignment, and action. Key components included:
- Future state visioning: A visual exercise to explore how success will feel, look, and sound in one year’s time
- Shared success statements: Creating 3–5 aligned goals that articulate the organisation’s desired impact
- Project audit and prioritisation: Mapping current workstreams against the vision to identify overlaps, gaps and misalignments
- Focus area planning: Categorising activities using alignment and impact tools to highlight where energy should be directed
- Action timeline: Co-developing a 12-month roadmap with assigned owners, deadlines and support needs
The team generated so many ideas we had to switch from the flipchart to the table just to capture them all, a sure sign of a committed, visionary group ready to level up.
The impact
By the end of the workshop, the team at One World Together had:
- Strategic clarity on their priorities for the next 12 months
- Aligned success statements to guide decision-making
- A shared roadmap with responsibilities and key milestones
- Renewed belief and momentum across the team
What began as a planning day became something more, a moment to reconnect to purpose, unlock creativity, and recommit to what matters most.
What One World Together said
“We started One World Together driven by our mission and purpose, alongside two full-time jobs and limited experience of starting, sustaining and growing a successful business. And it didn’t take us long to learn that if we want to succeed in our mission it’s going to take those skills, not just in day-to-day operations, but also in our strategic thinking and planning. We’re deeply grateful to Naomi and CAPE People Development for supporting us at what is a critical transition point for our team and organisation. We appreciated the day of deep and caring facilitation, that met us where we were at this current moment, where we want to be in a year’s time – and to think through what we need to get there. It wasn’t just good for planning and strategy, it has reinvigorated all of us and got our fires burning to get there!” Nicola Banks, Co-Founder & Chief Steward
What we think
For us, this wasn’t just a workshop, it was a real moment of transition and transformation for a growing social enterprise.
Through tailored leadership facilitation, strategic clarity, and practical tools, we helped a values-led organisation step into its next chapter, equipped, energised, and aligned.
