At Prime Accountants Group, leadership is personal. As a founder-led, values-driven accountancy firm, Prime recognises that its growth and long-term success depend on the strength of its leadership team. In a sector where client outcomes and team culture go hand-in-hand, directors must lead with clarity, consistency, and confidence.
In 2024, we partnered with Prime to deliver a bespoke, year-long Director Development Programme designed to build individual leadership capability while strengthening collective impact. Rooted in our CAPE leadership development philosophy, this programme addressed real organisational needs and supported sustainable performance.
Our approach: strategic leadership development for professional services
The programme combined three core elements:
- Team-based leadership development workshops
- Individual executive coaching for each director
- Facilitated peer coaching sessions to embed learning and build shared accountability
Each element was designed to target key leadership development goals, including:
- Consistency in approach across the leadership team
- Confidence in holding challenging conversations
- Improved collaboration and collective responsibility
The programme aligned closely with Prime’s growth trajectory and internal culture, providing both individual stretch and team cohesion.
What we covered
Over the course of the year, the programme followed a structured journey:
- Workshop 1: Establishing shared purpose, exploring DISC profiles, and building psychological safety
- Workshop 2: Defining what ‘good’ looks like in leadership, exploring clarity, alignment and impactful conversations
- Workshop 3: Embedding a high-performance mindset using the Lencioni model, and surfacing competing commitments
- Workshop 4: Developing key business advisory skills — including commercial awareness, relationship management, and communication with impact
All directors received 1:1 coaching to focus on personal goals and blind spots, while peer coaching enabled real-time feedback and shared problem-solving.

Feedback from the directors highlighted real progress:
